This month we are focusing our attention on training. We all recognize that good training adds tremendous value to our ability to serve our clients.

Let me ask you this: have you ever attended a training session, then walked away, never to think about it again? Unfortunately, most of us have — not that any of your clients have felt that way about your training.

A lot of people see training as nothing more than a transaction that takes place between you — the coach/trainer — and themselves. Transactions occur anytime two or more people engage in any type of dialogue or commerce. I give you something (my knowledge/expertise) and you give me something (your money/time).

The reason most training fails to impact people is because it is viewed as a transaction.

Is training just a transaction? Or is it something more — a transformation?

As a coach/trainer, you seek transformation for your clients — that fundamental shift or change they need to make to go to the next step.

What does transforming training look like?

A few months ago, my wife purchased a watermelon. When she got home, she found it was rotten inside. I said I would return it because I was going out. I took the watermelon back to the grocer and handed him the bill; he in turn gave me a new watermelon and returned my bill. As I was leaving, I glanced down at the bill and noticed I was in the wrong supermarket. I apologized; the grocer said not to worry because it was more important that I have a pleasant customer experience. That store’s motto is “Experience the Difference.” Needless to say, I became loyal to that grocer.

Many retailers would have said: “Sorry, you came to the wrong store.” With that response, they would feel they had fulfilled their job responsibility to complete the transaction. If, however, they understood that their job was to ensure the customer experienced the difference, they would respond as the caring grocer did. He recognized how he could transcend the level of transaction to reach transformation.

As a coach/trainer, your foremost task is to develop and teach relationship-building; from the relationship will flow transactions, deals, and more.

Let me ask you a couple of questions.

  1. Do you see your work with your clients as a simple transaction (another training event) or do you see your work as a transformation (developing relationships)?
  2. What possible transformations could occur in the course of your training? (List 5.)
  3. What are you doing to develop relationships with your clients?

Transformation is available in even the simplest of transactions — whether you are returning a watermelon, helping someone get a drink, or spending three days with others in training. I want to encourage you to go for the transformation, not the transaction, in all your encounters — in every training session you give or attend. That way, you will have taught your people how to fish!

Ken Keis: Live in Denver!:

One of the benefits for people attending our Professional and Business Development Summit is access to our new Platinum Program. While I can’t spill all the beans here, a number of attendees have been able to access Ken and his expertise for a day, to work with them and their clients. In some cases, these individuals are able to invite people from outside their client group.

You are invited to join Ken’s upcoming engagement in Denver.

Corporate Locker:

The Corporate Locker is now in beta test mode. In the next few days, your clients will be able to go online, take an assessment, and have their scores stored in your corporate locker, as opposed to their personal locker only. You will have access to their scores as soon as they complete the assessment(s). In fact, you will be able to assign specific assessments directly to your clients.

The Corporate Locker will allow you to review your team’s results whenever necessary. The scores can be sorted by client or department or geographical location. Your clients’ score results will stay on a secure site; you need not worry about having email intercepted or inadvertently read. Watch for an email in the next couple of weeks.

New Website Look:

This past week we launched our new Website. If you haven’t visited us in the last couple of weeks, please drop by. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the site and make it more people-friendly. We are working on the site navigation and the configuration of the store; we have also added new features. If you have personal development articles you would like posted, email me neal@crgleader.com; we will look at getting them into our Free Resource Section.

Note: While our Website address hasn’t changed, you will need to type in http://www.crgleader.com. In the past, the front page was a secure site. The store and learning locker are still secured sites.

To receive a complimentary access code, visit the site and let me know the location of the sign-up box for Ken’s Living On Purpose e-zine. Simply email your answer to neal@crgleader.com.

2. Gate Entrance (A tool to take on your journey)

If you are looking for training that is more than just a transaction, CRG’s 3- Day "Train-the-Trainer Workshop" is for you.

We achieve transformational training by the following means.

  • We allow you, in 10 to 15 minutes, to find out more about a person than you otherwise might learn in 10 to 15 months; the information could also be used to implement a full-day program or a longer process or intervention.

  • We design the resources for a wide range of applications, including screening, selection, hiring, personal, team, organizational development, and providing improved communications between and among individuals.

  • We build in flexibility that can be used in sales, customer service, team-building, leadership, entrepreneurship, job/career transition, education, personal coaching, families, business, and counseling environments.

  • We construct the resources with holistic methodology.

  • We focus on the participant in the learning process via self-scoring and self-interpreting assessments, thereby increasing each participant’s buy-in and success ratios.

  • We base all the resources on the same models and values so they don't create the confusion or contradictions caused by using multiple sources and models.

  • We have a proven track record: more than 1 million users in 13 countries over the past 20 years.

  • CRG enjoys a high acceptance level from HR professionals. Over 80% of the HR professionals who attend this 3-day intensive workshop permanently switch from other resources, such as DISC or MBTI.

  • Previous 3-day attendees tell us about their increased credibility with their constituents, while boosting the willingness of participants to listen and change.

3. On the Path (Someone out there who is doing it)

We completed our 3-day training here at the end of April. Here are a few comments we received from participants.

These three days have been a time of wonder and self-discovery. Train-the-Trainer has an abundance of content, but just as significant is the abundance of skilled facilitation and abundance of shared experiences.

Marlene Robinson, Executive Director, Certified Dental Assistants of BC

To know thyself is one of the greatest gifts. Not only do you know, learn, and feel who you are, you will learn the “funnel tools” to allow others to do the same!! Knowing that you want and desire to be a speaker/trainer/facilitator, you constantly look for tools and the support to take you to the next level. CRG can provide the tools, training, and coaching for you to be great at whatever you choose. Sincere thanks for creating a business model and foundation for ALL to win and succeed on a global market/community.

Amanda Vaz, Director of Joint Ventures, Peak Potentials

If you or anyone you know wanted to find themselves, I would tell them to start their journey at CRG and use the PSI because it will give them the roadmap for the rest of their journey.

Aileen de la Torre, Industrial Engineer

It is really not a Train-the-Trainer; it is more about discovery of self and how to help others discover themselves. Program was well structured, well facilitated, well supported, and well received by all in this session.

Michael Kmetz, President, Creative Edge Consultants

Ken Keis and the whole CRG staff truly make a powerful contribution to increasing the well-being of all people by their commitment to excellence in the tools and support for enhanced personal and interpersonal understanding and communication.

George Senko, COO/CFO, CEO²

CRG training has been invaluable! The vision and integrity of the leaders and tools are on the cutting edge of facilitating global communication in a powerful way. My passion being transformation — both personal and planetary — this training has empowered me in ways beyond expectation. Anyone wanting to make a difference in helping others needs to be here.

Dr. Tianna Conte-Dubs, NDE

By attending this workshop I learned the far-reaching value of the CRG tools. These learning tools will help leaders and others create change in corporations, organizations, and personal realms. The possibilities are endless.

Brook Montagna, MS, Business and Life Coach

As you can see, all these people experienced something different, yet each had a practical application to take on their journey of transformation for themselves and their clients.
