Do you have a healthy workplace environment?

In 2003, professors Linda Duxbury and Chris Higgins led a massive study which showed 55% of people describing themselves as "highly stressed," up from 38% ten years before. The American Psychological Association estimates that more than 75% of all visits to doctors' offices are for stress-related complaints. More than 50% of people believe they are not spending enough time with family and friends. The workplace has become increasingly stressful, leading to reduced productivity, compromised customer service, higher employee turnover and record levels of stress leave. How did this happen? More importantly, what can we do about it?

Wellness is generally used to mean a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being. Many factors contribute to wellness: living in a clean environment; eating organic food; regularly engaging in physical exercise; balance in career, family, and relationships; and developing religious faith.
